Chapter Four

So um Gwen, Kevin said awkwardly as they sat at there table, having a good time?

She picked up her menu, and began looking over the items listed. Smiling, she replied Yeah, its been really nice Kevin. Nothing I would have expected from you, no offices or anything. The mutant didnt look hurt in the least bit, but he was happy that Gwen was having a good time.

Kevins eyes locked onto her green orbs, never moving from them. Gwens bad feeling was starting to come back. She felt Kevins hands take one of hers and hold it gently. Both pairs of eyes where locked onto each others, and neither looked away. One of Kevins hands moved up to stroke the side of Gwens cheek, he let his thumb made slow circles around it.

After a moment, Gwen felt her eyes sink down to the table. Kevin. She said softly. He barely heard her.

Yes? He replied.

Gwen moved her face so that he was longer holding it. Theirs somethingsomething that you should know She lifted her eyes up to meet his. He nodded his head as an indication to go on. I have a boy friend, Kevin.

At that moment, his whole body went numb. A cold chill ran up the mans entire being, it was like nothing he had ever felt. Everything went black; the table, chairs, floor, and the damn food that cost him months to pay forall of it. He couldnt see, and his stomach began to feel funny. Not funny in the good way, more like he was going to though-up.

Oh yeah, I knew that already! He said, lying though his teeth. He smiled and laughed to himself, seeing Gwen smile a bit, though they both knew that he was lying. Neither said a word for the rest of dinner, and Gwen had even offered to get her own ride home. It wasnt like he was going to complain. He paid the bill, hugged Gwen good-bye, and both went there separate ways.

As his car door closed, Kevin slammed his fists into the horn, a loud beeping came as a result. His eyes slowly began to fill with tears, though he dared them to fall. He rapped his arms around the steering wheel, and began wiping into his arms. Things werent supposed to be like this

Ben let his feet dip into the water like they had that night when he had realized just how much he did care for his friend. Kevin the name fell from his lips softly. Ben looked up towards the moon, his face now wet from the pouring rain. His hair hung in clumps around his eyes, as a small smile graced his lips. Ben thought about what must have been going on, sure Kevin must have tried asking her out by now.

They must be in his car by now, cuddling and laughing about how the rain was really coming down. Looking into each others eyes, smiling, leaning down, and sharing there first kiss together. Ben pictured how soft Kevins lips might feel with his own. He pulled his hand up to his own, and gently rubbed them, wondering just what it might feel like to be kissed.

Things with Julie had never gotten that far. They had both realized that things wouldnt work out, mostly because Ben had realized that he was in love with Kevin. A tear let its self be know, slipping its way from his eyes and down his cheek. Not that it would have been noticed anyway, with the fact that it was raining hard now, and no one was around. He was alone, and that would never change.

He looked down as he noticed his cell phone began to ring. Hello?

Ben it was Kevin, and was crying?

Kevin? He replied. whats wrong.

There was a bit of sniffling from the other end. I need to talk to you. He said. Were are you?

Ben was starting to get a little worried. He didnt sound too good, Im at the lake. Their was a clicking sound, and the line went dead.

Something just wasnt right.

When Kevin finally showed up at the lake, Ben was there waiting for him. Surprised by the youngers lack of proper clothing in this weather, he motioned for Ben to come and sit with him in the car. Before he could ask what had happened, Kevin started talking, she had a boyfriend Ben.

Apparently, this was news to Ben as his eyed winded. Oh KevinIm sorry man. He put a hand on his friends shoulder, wanting to pull him into a hug but thinking ageist it for it might seem a bit awkward to Kevin. His shoulders began to shake, and he let his head dip down back into the wheel. Ben had never seen Kevin like this, he knew he really liked Gwen, and this must have only just proved his point.

The rain beat heavily on the car, both boys sat in silence, aside from Kevins random hiccup or sniffle. After a while, he had finally began to clam down. He wiped his eyes with the back of the his sleeve, and laughed.

Baffled, the brunet looked toward his older friend. Now he was just wondering about his mental state. The tears had dried up, but roaring laughter tuck its place. It wasnt until the older finally spoke that it began to make since, Women! He screamed breaking into another laughing fit, Who needs em! He smiled towards Ben who smiled back.

What do you say we cheer up this night, and head over to Mr. Smoothys? He said, knowing how much Ben would enjoyed that thought. Said boy nodded, and Kevin started up the car again. Smoothies hear we come! He said as he stepped on the gas.

Ben smiled as he looked at Kevin. He knew the mutant was hurting on the inside, but that didnt matter at the moment. If he wanted to be happy, and drown his misory in smoothies, then who was he to stop him? Ben was just glad that he had been the one that Kevin had called when he needed someone. He pushed a button on the radio and let a song fill the empy car. Nothing made him happier then seeing the one he loved smiling.

Muhahahaha!!! Chapter done :3 so yeah, kinda sad, kinda happy. But dont fear! For there is still more to come ^-^ Maybe even some Bevin in the next chapter X3 soooo!!!! Stay tuned and tell me what you think!!!
