Summer Finale
It was the last day of summer. Even if Ben didn’t want it to end. Over the summer, he’d developed a bit of a crush on Gwen. So when he realized he wouldn’t get to see Gwen anymore, he was pretty put down. Gwen noticed that.
“Hey Ben, what’s wrong?” The concern in her voice was genuine.
“I’m just sad that the best summer ever is about to end.” After saying this, he sighed.
“Ben, I’m sure-” But Gwen was interrupted by Grandpa Max.
“Ben! We’re at your house!” Ben smiled lightly after Gwen came over, but now, after hearing his grandfather tell him that his dream summer with his dream girl, his face showed a deep frown. Ben stood up and walked out of the RV. Gwen didn’t get to say goodbye, so she quickly followed after him. Grandpa Max was making conversation with Carl And Sandra, Ben’s parents. Ben stood behind the RV, and Gwen stood to talk to him. So, Ben began.

Smell ya around! they each said at once.
I’d say I’d miss you, said Gwen,
but…
I wouldn’t want to lie! they said in unison, once again.
“But, in all seriousness Gwen, I did have an amazing time, minus the alien attacks and bad guys that showed up every minute.”
‘Come on Ben, just tell her how you feel!’ He thought.
” Hey Gwen?” He said, getting her attention. His pulse rate sped up as he slowly said,
“I..like you…a lot….” Ben said it slowly and calmly, and the nervousness was not shown in his voice.
“What do you mean?” Gwen asked, slightly confused.
Ben took a deep breathe. “I spent an entire summer with you and i started having these weird feelings towards you and then I realized I had a crush on you and I loved you and I wasn’t sure if you felt the same so I never got the courage until now which seemed like a good time since I didn’t think I’d see you for a long time after and I hope you feel the same way.” He released it all in one breathe, and it was a bit of a gurble.
Gwen didn’t answer in a way that involved words. She answered by pressing her own lips against his, which was an answer that was easy to read, to Ben at least.
Ben’s eyes were wide with shock, but they slowly closed as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He was also more than happy to deepen the kiss. After what seemed to be a minute, they broke apart, but only by a few inches.
“Gwen! Time to go home!”, Grandpa yelled, snapping her out of her trance.
“Ok Grandpa!”, she responded, with a sad look on her face.
“Bye Ben…”, she said sadly, then pecked him on the cheek and walked into the RV.
But Ben was in complete shock. He was frozen where he was. He had one hand on his mouth, feeling where she had kissed him. His eyes were wide, and he couldn’t move if his life depended on it.
” This is gonna one long shoolyear…”
