Second
daughter of Eve: Just
wait and see. If Im feeling nice I might add a kiss. :P
Xepru:
Yup,
there will be powers, it was a last minute idea, but I thought it
would be cool if it was in here. Besides, unless a reviewer or me
come up with an idea to bring the omnitrix into the story, we need
some powers to make this into a Ben 10 story besides the servant
turned aliens. XD
Love
Tendencies: Im
sure everyone psyched that I finally have Gwen and Kevin getting
along. : ) Unless they like them fighting, then I have no problem
with doing that!
Well,
heres the chapter! Oh and this story is now a T rated story
because I have stuff planned! Also, seeing Kevin as an adult and not
utter atleast one curse, yeah right. *rolls eyes* Well here it is!

Chapter
8: Getting Along
It
was weird. How everything in the castle could seem so how can one
put it, normal. It was strange how to people could get along so
quickly. Every little day, Gwen and Kevin seemed to act a little more
civilized to each other.
It
was weird, but not unwelcome amongst the castle.
It
had been about a month since the whole wolf incident, and the chill
of winter was starting to come. The trees leaves in the garden had
started changing colors that ranged from bright yellow to dark
maroon. It was a beautiful pallet of colors.
Kevin
was sitting in the garden in his special rose garden. And as per
usual, checking on them. Most had wilted to black and were left to
crumple on the ground. Kevin smiled as he noticed a few were left
alive in the garden. Especially his special flower. The yellow rose.
In
Julies art room, Julies painting had been long finished and
left in the corner. It was mostly dark colors, something that didnt
surprise Kevin or Julie in the slightest. If it came from one of her
nightmares, it was usually dark. Black roses lined the corners of the
painting, its vines weaved throughout the painting, its thorns
pointing out in random directions. The rose thorns weaved in the
entrance of a room.
Thrown
clothing could be seen on the floor, and things such as lamps and
desks were in a heap on the ground. A bright full harvest moon could
be seen through the open window to an old broken marble balcony. A
big hulking figure was standing in front of the balcony.
No
one could really figure what it meant. But it lied discarded, as both
Ben and Julie laughed as they both made random figures on a blank
canvas. Soon, they both started painting each other in an all out
paint war. Rainbows of colors flying as laughter came from both
adults.
As
this all was going on, Gwen sat in her room on her bed. Thinking. She
couldnt just forget about that night. No, she couldnt move on
from it, not just yet. She had to figure things out. How could she
create that pink shield?
Was
it an act of witch craft? Was it the affects of living in this
castle? Could it have just been her imagination? I mean it wouldnt
be unusual, people tend to create lots of things up in the heat of an
attack. But no, she knew it couldnt be like that. It was real. But
she couldnt really describe how she knew. But, she felt like it
had something to do with her family.
Her
mom and dad always seemed to hide their childhoods, even her Aunt
Sandra and Uncle Carl seemed too. Not to mention her Grandpa Max. He
seemed like he hid a lot from them. And maybe, it was the source of
her secret.
—
Max
tossed and turned in his bed. Trapped in the world of his
subconscious. As the few weeks passed by, he was starting to lose a
tad bit more of his sanity. Not that he believed he had any left.
Slowly, he had begun to get sicker each day. With the disappearance
of his two beloved Grandkids, could you possibly blame him? They were
like his children.
He
shot out of bed in a coughing fit, reaching blindly for his water. He
took greedy gulps in until the fit passed, he sat against the head
board of his bed staring blankly at his water. Soon, his
daughter-in-law had rushed in.
Are
you okay, Max? She asked worriedly, her hands wet. She must have
been doing the dishes, it was night time. Max smiled at her, Sandra
was a nice woman. He was glad Carl had found someone like her.
Yeah,
Im fine, just going through the years, Max chuckled lightly.
Sandra frowned as she brushed a piece of stray blond hair out of her
eyes. She loved Max like a father, much like her own before he had
passed away a few years ago. The toll of both Ben and Gwen was
getting to him. She, Carl, Lilly, and Frank knew that. It was hard on
all of them, him especially. After all, he was with them when that
thing took them.
The
morning after the attack, Max had contacted both parents, telling
them what happened and what he had seen. They had come as fast as
they could every night, they would search for the castle, but it
seemed like it was impossible. They just couldnt track it down.
And they couldnt have Max help them, he had been getting sicker
lately. The local doctor had said it was possibly just a cold and his
old age wasnt helping the symptoms.
But
they knew it wasnt that. He was sick alright, but just sick with
worry. They hoped that they could save Ben and Gwen from that
monster. Find them and take them home.
—
Back
at the castle, everything was peaceful. Dinner was being set, the
smell had filtered its way through half of the castle. Everyone
sighed as the delicious smell reached their noses. Some were
salivating. It seemed like it was before the castle was cursed.
And
shockingly enough, Kevin and Gwen were sitting next to each other
talking rather quietly. Neither knowing what exactly to say. Their
friendship wasnt really something that clicked like that. So, they
just asked random questions to try to get to know each other. Gwen
quietly cursed for Julie and Ben being absent. Having both around
made it seem less awkward.
Soon,
their attention turned towards the door when they heard laughter and
stomping. A squeal was heard as the doors opened, as Ben and Julie
walked in. Well, more like Ben holding Julie over his shoulder as he
laughed. Julie just squealed as she hit his back with her small fists
and kicked him, her skirt flailing around her legs.
Put
me down! Its dinner time, Ben! And were here! Ben just
shrugged, which caused Julie to scream at the movement. He laughed as
he dropped her down on a chair, then sat down next to her.
Sorry
were late guys, Ben apologized nonchalantly taking a sip out of
his cup of water, We were playing tag. Gwen raised her eyebrow,
and it looked like that if Kevin had one, hed be raising his
eyebrow as well.
Tag?
Both Gwen and Kevin asked in unison. Julie nodded happily.
Yeah,
Julie answered as she started munching on her salad. As they ate
dinner, Gwen couldnt help but be a bit jealous about their
relationship. Couldnt getting along with Kevin be as easy?
—
So,
why arent you and Wendy getting along to well? Julie asked from
his couch. Kevin grumbled from the position on the bed. He was laying
on his back with all four eyes closed.
What
the hell are you talking about? Kevin asked, Were getting
along. Julie rolled her eyes.
Yes,
you two may be getting along, but its not really a comfortable
relationship is it? Julie questioned. Kevin groaned and turned to
his side, his back facing her. Julie sighed and blew a strand of hair
out of her face. She pulled herself up a bit, so she her arm was
wrapped on the backside of the couch. She glared at Kevins back.
You
should mind your own business, Kevin grumbled. Julie sighed as she
placed her head in her arms.
Why
dont you try to do something nice for her? Julie asked, her
voice muffled by her arms, She likes books you know. Kevin
groaned at Julies hint. He knew what she was prodding at.
Yeah,
yeah, Kevin grumbled, Let me sleep, woman.
—
Okay,
where are you taking me? Gwen asked as Kevin led her down the
hall. It was morning now, the day after, and Kevin was leading a
blind folded Gwen down the halls. With each room they passed, the
servants eyes followed them.
Youll
see, Kevin grumbled back. Gwen didnt have to see him to know he
was smirking with that smug tone.
Up
a flight of stairs, down a hall, a left, he grumbled as he pulled her
into a u-turn. Apparently taking the wrong turn. Going down several
more halls, theyd finally stopped.
Can
I take my blind fold off? Gwen asked as her hand reached for her
blind fold. She felt Kevins fuzzy hand cover hers. In comparison,
Gwens hand was tiny compared to his.
Not
just yet, He said, soon she heard doors being opened and Kevin
mumble Wow, cant believe Julie oiled the hinges. She was
then tugged forward a bit, she could sense Kevins hulking figure
walk around her and untie her blind fold. As they fell off, she
blinked a few times so her eyes would get used to the bright space.
Soon, everything wasnt blurry any more.
Oh
my god, Gwen gasped as she looked around her. The room was huge,
probably five stories high. Shelves filled the room, piling high to
the ceiling and most importantly, books filled those shelves. A few
ladders were located near all the shelves and could move accordingly.
About two staircases were seen in the room, so she could climb to the
next level of the library. She turned to see Kevin grinning in
satisfaction.
You
like? He asked as he spread his two top arms wide, gesturing to
the room. Gwen smiled widely at him.
Like?
She asked incredulously, I love it! She stood on the small
stool by him, and after going on the tip of her toes, she kissed him
on the cheek. Both of them blushed brightly, Kevins barley seen
while Gwens blush was more obvious.
This
place is the coolest, Gwen proclaimed as briskly walked to the
shelf and started looking over some books. Trying her hardest not to
look at Kevin. If she had looked back, she would have noticed that he
was smiling and had one of his hands (the one that glows at night)
covering the cheek she kissed.
—
Somewhere
in a dark room, a crystal ball was placed on the middle of the table.
An image of Kevin and Gwen disappeared in smoke and was replaced with
a picture of Julie and Ben sleeping in the art room. Soon, smoke
covered the entire crystal.
So
theyve found her, A voice sneered. The owner of the voice was
hidden in the shadows. Unable to be seen. But the other figure, the
woman with silver hair and violet eyes, could definitely be seen.
So
it seems Uncle, The woman replied as she walked towards the
crystal, Who would have known? The figure, obviously a man,
shook his head in obvious disgust.
Certainly
not us, He remarked dryly, This could ruin my plan completely.
The woman sighed and started drawing imaginary lines on the crystal
with her finger.
You
need to calm down, Uncle, She said, All will go along- She
was interrupted.
Dont
tell me to calm down, Charmcaster! The man boomed, there was a
glow and the staff he was holding lit up revealing his white balmy
hand, Ive been working on this scheme since you were a young
girl. Charmcaster glared at him.
I
know, I do recall your plots and monologue, She snapped, You
have to calm yourself Uncle, or things could get ruined. The man
sighed as his staffs light went out.
You
are right, He said, all past edge on his voice presently gone,
Well get the power, and once we do, nothing will stop us.
Both Uncle and Niece laughed maniacally at the chance that their plan
did work out.
Back
at the castle, Julie woke up again, in a dry sweat. Whatever she her
dream was about, it was to real. It seemed very real. And if it was,
it didnt seem like a good sign. Shoving her blankets away, she
stepped out of her bed to go to her art room and paint out her dream
before she forgot about it.
