Chapter 7: North Wing?

Well, I dont think weve introduced ourselves! Alexa said, Im Alexa, and my green amigo here is Kaylin. Kaylin nodded in agreement. Gwen nodded in acknowledgment as the trio walked down the long hall which were full of paintings and empty suites of renaissance armor. A typical look for castle dcor.

They reached the end of the hall to reach a huge room. Gwen looked up in appreciation of the high ceilings and the black crystal chandelier. Their was also a beautiful high window that had a mosaic looking window. As the light filtered through it, kaleidoscopic designs lit the red plush carpets that led to another door. On the opposite side of the room was a staircase. For some reason, it looked darker and had a serious air around it.

Do you know whats up there? Gwen asked pointing towards the stairs. Kaylin started to fidget slightly as she looked towards where Gwen was pointing.

Oh, um, thats the North Wing, Alexa informed twiddling her fingers, No one really goes up there. Anymore any way. Gwen raised an eyebrow.

Really? Why not? She asked.

Um, no reason, Kaylin replied, Theres really nothing up there but storage.

Yeah, storage, Alexa added quite quickly, Full of dust and spiders and all sorts of old looking things.

Then why are you guys so nervous? Gwen questioned.

No reason, Kaylin squeaked flushing from embarrassment. Did I really just say it like that?! Kaylin screamed in her head.

Doesnt seem like nothing, Gwen pointed out. What was so important about the North Wing? First Kevin yells at her for asking whats there, and now the servants seem to be sworn to secrecy to not tell a living soul outside the castle about what could possibly be there. There seemed to be a story behind that place or something if it seemed that important to the people in this castle.

Uh, lets forget about that stupid old place, Alexa laughed nervously, Do you want to check out the art galleries? Gwen looked interested.

Theres an art gallery here? Kaylin nodded enthusiastically about not having to talk about the West Wing.

Yep! Loads of arts! That place is cluttered with those painting they have! Kaylin prompted trying to grab Gwens attention as far away from the West Wing as possible. Gwen seemed to look more interested in the idea, she decided to just go along with it. For the sake of the duo.

As both Alexa and Kaylin babbled on and on about the art galleries and etcetera. Gwen just smiled and nodded, saying a bit of her fill when needed, as they walked down the hall. She glanced back towards the creepy looking stairs. They may have thought she would forget about it, but she wasnt about to give up on solving the mystery of the North Wing any time soon.

As Julie continued working hard on the painting, she placed her paint brush down and stepped back. It looked like it was starting to take form. But she still had a bit more things to do before it would be complete.

So Ben, what do you think of it so far? Her answer was only silence. Ben? She looked around until she noticed his figure passed out on the couch. She giggled quietly. She had wondered why he had gotten so quiet. She just thought that he was observing her paint again. She quietly walked over towards the snoring Ben and sat down next to him in the free space on the plush couch.

Didnt know he snored, Julie giggled quietly brushing some hair out of the way. She smiled at how peaceful and serene he looked. Her hand lingered on his check as he smiled subconsciously.

So this is whats going on when you two are alone, huh? A voice quipped, snickering slightly. Julie flushed brightly as she turned to see Gwen.

Um, uh, its not what it looks like? Julie didnt know exactly what to say, and blushed a little brighter not believing she just said that. Gwen giggled.

Dont worry, youre secrets safe with me, Gwen promised as she walked inside closing the door behind her. So, hows the painting going? She asked looking over at the painting. It was mostly black. A few white areas here and there along with a few patches of reds, greens, browns, and any other colors in between. Julie shrugged.

Its not really finished yet, and you cant really tell what it is, but its coming out okay I think. Its taking longer then I thought though, Julie answered.

Yeah, it looks like you have a long way to go, Gwen concurred. The translucent woman rolled her eyes.

Thanks for your support, Wendy, I feel so believed in. Gwen raised her eyebrow at her.

Did you just call me Wendy? Gwen asked. Julie smiled and nodded, sitting on Bens leg. It wasnt that much weight, since in her current state she was as heavy as a cup of water. So it didnt seem to bother the sleeping man much.

Yeah, Julie said, You take that G, O, L, and N out of Gwendolyn and you get Wendy. Gwen thought about it and rolled her eyes.

Youre so lame, Gwen laughed. Julie gave a huge cheesy smile.

You know it!! She exclaimed proudly. Both girls laughed a bit at that. Thats when Gwen remembered the reason she came in here.

So, Julie, can I ask you something? Gwen said. Julie raised an eyebrow.

Depends, should I be worried about the question? Julie countered back. Gwen sighed and sat on the dark wooden chair across the room.

Im serious, Jules, Gwen sighed. Julie gave a shrug as she leaned against the back of the couch.

Shoot, Julie told.

Whats in the North Wing? Gwen immediately questioned.

W-why would you ask that? Julie asked. Gwen sighed. Why was that everyones reaction? Was there some weird evil monster that rips peoples heads off or something?

Everyone seems so nervous when I ask that question! Why is it?! Gwen exclaimed throwing her hands in the air, Can you at least answer that? Julie sighed.

Look Wendy, its not really my place to tell- Julie started only to be interrupted by Gwen.

Youve told us almost everything about this castle, but you cant tell me about the North Wing?! Gwen shouted. Julie sent her a glare.

Okay, I havent told you everything, Ive just told you most of the things about this castle, an annoyed Julie said, And its not something I can say, its a personal thing, okay? Julie sighed and stood up off of Ben and the couch. Ben groaned from the missing weight and turned over, falling off the couch. Julie and Gwen held their hand over their mouths quietly giggling that he was still asleep.

Okay, Julie snickered, Im going to start painting again. Do you need anything else? Gwen sighed and shook her head as she stood up.

Im good, She answered, See ya. With that she walked out the door to leave both her cousin and Julie alone once again.

It was after lunch, and Gwen laughed when she saw that Julie had to help Ben into the dinning room. Apparently when he fell off the couch, he must of hurt something. But soon, she noticed Kevin laughing. Which caused the millionth fight that week.

Walking down the hall she earlier walked down with Alexa and Kaylin, Gwen didnt really give a hoot if she should have been at dinner. The chiefs cooked way to much, but in their defense, it was one of the best things shes ever eaten.

She stopped in the foyer area once again where the creepy stair way lurked. The North Wing. It had been tempting her to find out what could possibly be there for the past day. She had to find out what could possibly be there! Its been driving her ravenous!

She looked around and took a few steps towards the stairs. Since nothing happened, her hand was on the railing as she slowly made her way up the stairs. It was dark, and she could scarcely see anything. But she could still see. She carefully crept foreward, reaching two doors. She felt around until she grabbed hold of the door knob. She opened it and pushed it open.

She walked in carefully, she gasped as she felt something under her foot. She looked down to see a picture. She bent over and picked the paper like object up. It was a picture. The edges were burned on the corners, the picture was of a family.

A black-haired man had his arm wrapped around a beautiful brunette blue-eyed woman. The mans free arm had his hand on a young boys shoulder. Both man and boy looked very similar, so it was her guess that they were father and son. A young girl was also in the picture, being hugged by the woman. The girl looked oriental and held a white bunny doll in her arms. It looked like a normal family picture.

She placed the picture back down as she carefully walked through the pig sty of a room. It was a huge mess, not to mention dark and slightly creepy. The wall paper looked clawed at and was hanging limply from the wall. Gwen gave a yelp when she heard a creaking sound behind her, turning around quickly she looked to see it was nothing but the wind she felt moving the door back and forth.

She continued her way through the room, occasionally stopping and looking behind her to make sure that no was behind her. This place gave her the creeps. She gasped as she looked in the middle of the room. There, on a table, was a beautiful glowing black rose.

On the other side of the castle

Where is she?! Kevin growled angrily as he crushed a fork in his crystal arm. Julie sighed and flicked some food at him. Kevin gave her a death glare which she promptly returned.

Calm down, will you? Julie remarked, She probably just fell asleep or something. It gets a little boring around here you know. Kevin growled and started to eat again. It was quiet except for the sounds of crunching and slurping. After half a minute, Kevin starting growling again. Ben was kind of freaked out by this behavior and turned towards Julie. She didnt look freaked out at all. She just kept eating her meal in peace.

Julie was all to use to his behavior. It was stupid, he acted like an upset five year old whenever things didnt go his way. She was just glad he wasnt so spoiled that he acted like there was some stick up his butt. But it was still annoying.

If youre just going to sit there and growl, you dont have to stay and have us suffer and listen to you, Julie remarked dryly glaring at him. Taking her advice, he stood up and left with a slam. Julie sighed and stretched a bit.

Ah, peace and quiet, Julie commented. Ben smiled and nodded, he hesitantly reached his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders. He was immediately relieved when she smiled up at him and leaned against his shoulder.

Tonight wasnt turning out as bad as he thought it would be.

Gwen walked towards the beautiful rose. Something about it called her to it. She reached for it, she hissed and she pulled her hand back. Thorns. Duh, how could she forget? Every roses has its thorns. She frowned when she noticed the dropping petals. It didnt look like it would last long, it was upsetting such a beautiful thing wouldnt last long.

She gasped as she felt two strong hands squeeze her arms and turn her around. She heard loud growling as she stared into Kevins four yellow eyes.

What are you doing in my room?! He demanded, she shivered, it sounded more like a hiss. ANSWER ME! He boomed. Gwen remained quiet, Kevin freaked out a bit when he noticed fear in her eyes. He let go of her arms, by the looks of it, it looked like his grip was going to leave two bruises on each arm. He clenched his hands together as he, open them again to clasp the window sill.

Get. Out. Gwen looked confused. She walked towards him a bit, reaching out as if she was about to place her hand on his shoulder.

Wh-what? She asked. She let a scream out as the window sill broke under Kevins grip.

GET OUT OF MY ROOM! Kevin boomed. Gwen quickly ran out of the room and down the stairs. She continued running as she ran out of through the doors that were in front of the stairs. She kept on running, and somehow she ended up at the front door. She opened it and kept on running, she pushed the doors gates open as well and ran blindly into the forest.

It was some time until her pace slowed down so she could catch a breather. That was a little over doing it. But she was scared out of her wits. With the way his dark eyes were glaring at her. She felt herself shiver as she remembered. A low growl was heard and she froze temporarily. A snarl was heard behind her, just as she turned around, a wolf lunged out at her. She screamed as she placed her hands in front of her in protection. She closed her eyes preparing for the pain. No pain was felt.

She opened an eye to see a pink shield in her way. What the-? She moved her hands and the shield disappeared, it seemed so surreal how something could disappear that fast. More growls were heard. That wolf is obviously part of a pack. They were circling around her in some choreographed movements. Theyd done this sort of thing before. Send one, and if it went down easily, then theyd all strike at once. Pretty smart for animals.

She was going to die. Right in front of the castle. She frowned, she was only a few feet away, maybe she could- Before she could formulate a plan, they attacked. Each coming at her a different time. She was able to avoid two, but the third caught her dress. She screamed once again, tugging on her dress she was free, but now a rip marked the bottom of her dress.

The fourth wolf was in mid lunge before a bulking figure shielded her from the attack. It was Kevin. He grabbed the wolf with his crystal like arm, throwing it against the tree. The third wolf came from behind and bit down hard on his arm that was covered in orange covered hair. Kevin let out a cry as he reached with his bulky red arm and tried pulling him off, but he wouldnt let go. The first and second wolf took their open opportunity to attack.

Kevin yelled out in pain as Gwen watched in fear. Fear for Kevin. Her hands covered her mouth in worry. Kevin let out a snarl as he managed to throw them off. He brought his other arm up, which was now glowing in certain areas, flames shot out of his palm. He slightly singed the wolves as they ran off whimpering.

Kevin, I, Gwen couldnt get the words out. And he wouldnt hear her any way, as he promptly fainted. That was when Gwen noticed the blood wounds on his side and arm.

Ow! Kevin cried loudly as Gwen tried washing it out. Not there, stupid! Gwen glared and pressed a bit harder. Kevin glared, and pulled his arm out of her grasp and held it close to himself. Why did you press so hard?!

I wouldnt be pressing so hard if you would just stop fidgeting! Gwen snapped. Kevin sighed loudly and gave his arm back to her. Her facial expression softened as she started padding it lighter. When she was done, she started dressing the wound with white gauze she had gotten from Julie.

Thanks, Gwen said softly. Kevin looked over towards her.

What was that? Kevin asked. Gwen blushed.

Thank you, Gwen said louder.

What? Didnt hear ya, Kevin chided playfully. Gwen rolled her eyes and shoved him slightly.

You heard me, Gwen replied. Kevin grinned, showing a full set of pointy teeth.

Yeah, but I love hearing you say it, Kevin said, Can ya say it again? Gwen rolled her eyes.

This will be the last time I say this, Gwen said as she wrapped her arms around one of his arms since she couldnt give him a normal hug. Thank you for saving me. Kevin smiled, it seemed she didnt notice his blush.

Youre welcome. A calm air was, for once and finally, around them. It seemed they were becoming friends. On the other side of the door, they couldnt hear Becky, Hayden, Kaylin, Alexa, Ben, and Julie cheered silently. While Ani looked like she could care less and Chris looked up, his questions on what the heck was going were left unanswered.

Hope you like it! And remember: Reviews = Love
