Chapter 5- Did I Mention Fighting?

Will you please come out? Julie had asked from outside Gwens door.

I will not eat if that monsters going to be there! Gwens muffled voice exclaimed. Julie sighed and ran a hand through her hair.

Can you just let me in to talk? Julie asked. Seconds later Gwens door opened slightly and Julie could see some of Gwens face.

Only to talk, you better not try to coax me to come down, Gwen muttered.

Wouldnt dream of it! Julie chirped as she walked inside the room. Gwen slammed the door unceremoniously and locked it. Walking over toward the bed, Gwen flopped down and pulled the covers over her body.

Why are you here? Gwen questioned. Julie sighed and sat down next to Gwens feet on the bed.

You know why Im here, I think everyone can hear Kevins screaming from- CLASH!! here, Julie finished. The woman gave a sigh and massaged her forehead. If whatever he just broke belonged to me, hes screwed, Julie murmured. From the shouts of cursing from Gwens absence (for the second time in a row) for dinner and whatever the heck he broke- which Julie deduced was the fine white China dinning plates that she had bought back before they werent cursed- she was going to kill him. Master of the castle or not.

Good luck with that, Gwen commented dryly, the covers slightly shifted showing that she must have moved slightly towards Julies direction.

Ha, you should be wishing him luck, Julie quipped back, Gwen gave a little chuckle. Julie smiled. Looks like Ms. Gloom and doom laughed, Julie remarked. Gwen sighed and sat up against the head board of her bed.

Why should I go down there? Gwen sniffed folding her arms across her chest.

Please? Julie pleaded, It would be nice eating dinner with someone besides Kevin and the others! Gwen just kept giving Julie a blank look. Julie sighed.

And, I maybe, could have, left Ben and Kevin alone and theyre in the dinning room right now, Julie mentioned. Gwen jumped out of the bed.

What?! She cried; those two fought like cats and dogs. Julie shrugged.

Ben wanted to come up with me, but then he and Kevin started fighting so, Julie started, I just came up here to get you when they seemed busy. Gwen just sent Julie a hard look.

And you didnt think of just grabbing Ben and getting me?! Gwen asked.

Yeah, basically, Julie answered. Gwen gave an exaggerated sigh and walked out of the room toward the dinning hall where the noise was coming from.

Or I could have just told Ben to stay in his room for a bit, Julie told no one in particular as she smiled and stood up to get Ben.

Ben and Julie sat next to each other as theyre heads turned left to right like they were watching a tennis match. They were both watching Gwens and Kevins fight escalate. Gwen sat on the left side of them while Kevin sat in his usual place on the right.

Youre such a pig! Gwen shouted. Ben and Julie turned their heads to the left. Have you ever heard of a spoon? Or a fork? She continued. Kevin snorted.

Why would I those things? Kevin asked. Ben and Julie turned their heads right. Its easier for me just to pick up food with my hands.

Julie sighed as she just picked up her spoon and started slurping her soup. Ben looked over at her.

You think its going to be like this every night? Ben asked. Julie shrugged.

Theyve been fighting whenever they see each other for the past week, Julie sighed, So it seems like they might. Ben shrugged and started eating some of his sandwich. While both he and Julie ate in silence, both Gwen and Kevin were glaring at each other while they ate their meals.

And as Julie said, they fought every time they saw each other. When they happened to be walking down the same hallway.

Get out of my way!

I should be saying that to you Gwendolyn!

Stop calling me Gwendolyn! And its not my fault youre taking up most of the hallway space you ogre!

Whenever they all had a meal, it was the same. Usually it started out with the appatizer and Gwen and Kevin were glaring at each other. Then came the main meal, while Ben and Julie ate and occasionally talked amongst each other, Gwen and Kevin were at an all out feud. By dessert, or the end of the meal, one of them always seemed to storm out of the room. Or they just stayed and continued their fighting while Ben and Julie picked up their plates to help the servants wash them.

Im tired of their fighting! Julie sighed as both she and Ben had finished washing their dishes from lunch. Both were sitting on the couch that was placed in front of the fire place in Julies room. Is it too much to ask for peace and quiet?!

I know, right? Ben agreed, I think Ive heard them fight over their shoes! Julie rolled her eyes.

How long do you think theyll keep on fighting? Ben asked. Julie groaned.

I wish I knew.

Gwen was slumped over a book that Julie had leant her. At the moment, the book was getting to some of the good points, like Lilly finding out about the truth of her parents death and Tim was getting closer to saving Lilly. Just as Tim was in the midst of fighting off the hybrid creatures, the door knocked. The door creaked open a bit for her to see it was Ben.

Hey, Ben greeted quietly. Gwen gave a wan smile in return and scooted over a bit in her bed to give her cousin some room to sit on her bed with her.

So, are you going to dinner tonight? Ben asked. Gwen frowned immediately and placed her book on the night stand as she leaned against the head board of the bed.

I dont really want to, Gwen replied, I really dont want to fight with him tonight. Ben rolled his eyes.

You have to get along with him sooner or later, Ben said, Its not like you can leave or something. Gwen smiled and wished she could, then suddenly she stood straighter, wait, she could leave if she wanted to!

That, is the smartest thing Ive ever heard you say Ben, Gwen smiled. Ben looked at her confused.

What exactly are you talking about? Ben drawled hesitantly.

We can leave! Nothings really keeping us here! Gwen told. Ben sent her an incredulous look.

Leave? Ben asked. Gwen nodded.

Yes! Lets leave! Gwen was getting a bit frustrated. We could take one of the horses from the stalls out back and escape through the forest back to the village! Ben shook his head.

I dont really think we should, Ben said. Gwen crossed her arms.

Why not? She inquired.

Because life here isnt so bad, I mean free food and board, and I like hanging out with Julie, Ben listed, Its also a bit more interesting here than it ever was back home, and- He stopped when Gwen interrupted him.

I know you only want to stay because of Julie, Gwen smirked a bit when Ben blushed, But what about Grandpa? Dont you miss him?

Well, yeah, I do, Ben conceded, But were both what? 21? Shouldnt we try to spread our wings and leave the nest? Gwen sighed.

Youre no help, She said, And lets just forget about this whole conversation. Ben nodded happily.

You know, Julie remarked as she leaned against the door way inside Kevins pig sty of a room, It isnt nice to spy. Kevin glared and the images of the two cousins disappeared from the mirror.

Well I cant keep them locked up in the dungeons, Kevin snorted, So how else am I supposed to keep an eye on them so they dont leave? Julie raised an eyebrow.

Have you considered that instead of spying on them you could try to befriend them? They are pretty cool people, Julie commented as she walked carefully around the jagged items on Kevins floor to sit on his bed. It still hurt stepping on items in ballet slippers you know. Kevin rolled his eyes.

Right, thats the smart thing to do, Kevin snorted. Julie crossed her arms.

Ive befriended them and they seem to be behaving alright, Julie defended. Kevin glared down at her.

Yeah, and them planning to leave just a second ago was something that all good kiddies do. Julie stiffened at his words, she didnt really hear what they were saying, only the last sentence.

So, I cant really blame them, Julie defended even though it stung a bit that they were planning on leaving, Youre not really the most nicest guy to be around what with you stomping around the castle. Not like Julie really minded much, she was kind of glad that he wasnt cooped up in his room all day like before they came. Besides, they decided to stay right? Kevin snorted again.

The only reason they stayed was because Ben wanted to be around you, Kevin told her. He smirked when she blushed prettily at that.

Really? She asked. I-I-I mean, see, they decided to stay! She cursed herself after she squeaked out that sentence. Kevin gave a loud laugh, which sounded more like a loud growl coming from his monstrous like form.

I cant believe you actually like him, Kevin laughed, but he is youre type so Im not all surprised. Julies face didnt stop blushing.

I dont have a type, Julie exclaimed standing up and walking toward the exit. Now if you dont mind, Im going to the dining room, its dinner time.

It was silent, something that was praised, during dinner time. It was great, yet slightly disturbing. Ben and Julie occasionally glanced to Gwen, then Kevin, then each other. Where was the fight.

So, Kevin, Gwen started out as she pushed her empty bowl of soup out of the way and placed her elbows on the table, Howd this place get cursed?

Julie! You told them?! Kevin boomed as the bowl in his hand was crushed. Julie glared up at him.

No! I didnt! And besides, nothing more screams This place is curse then the fact that were all some creature like things and the fact that the dcor is gothic! Julie yelled back. Ben sighed, why did Gwen have to bring that up? And why so randomly?

You seriously thought I wouldnt have figured it out?! Gwen yelled, Seriously, how dumb do you take me for?!

Do you seriously want me to answer that?! Kevin asked. Both Gwen and Kevin started fighting. Ben sighed and looked over towards Julie. He scooted toward her a bit, she looked a little steamed.

Are you okay? Ben asked.

No! Julie growled, Im tired of them fighting! Its seriously annoying?! And how could Kevin blame ME for telling you guys about the curse?! It was pretty obvious that this place is either cursed or haunted by the motif! Julie grumbled some more and crossed her arms across her chest as she slumped slightly in her seat. Ben frowned sympathetically but said nothing, what could he say exactly? It wasnt like he was going to defend Kevin or anything.

Thats it! Gwen screeched, Im going to my room!! She stomped toward the doors.

Dont walk out while Im yelling at you! Kevin shouted. His response was a loud bang as Gwen slammed the doors.

Freaking jerk, Gwen mumbled as she marched down the hall at a rather fast pace. She continued to mumble curses toward the monster like being. She continued marching until her pace slowed down and she started to think more clearly.

She looked around the hallway and realized that she was lost. She sighed, Just great, she thought sarcastically as she moved down hallway after hallway until she stopped at a dead end. A door was there. Gwen sighed and grabbed the handle. Why not take a peak. She turned the knob and opened the door.

She couldnt see much, but the moon light was streaming through the windows as it illuminated the room. Once her eyes got adjusted to the darkness, she walked in slowly. She noticed in the corner a set of canvases were sitting against the wall next to one of the huge windows. She walked over toward them and saw that they were painted on. She crouched down and looked out the first one.

It was a picture of the moon, a few clouds were set in front of both the moon and some of the stars sparkling in the sky. You were looking out a window with a hint of curtains showing on each side of the painting. It was a picture of the forest as the main theme, the window was open, and right in the middle of the painting was a grew wolf staring savagely towards anyone looking out of the window.

Gwen shivered slightly after looking into the wolfs eyes. On the bottom right hand corner of the painting, she noticed the initials J.H.Y. written in dark pink.

Gwen? Are you awake? Julie asked leaning against the door. She rasped against the door lightly. Gwen? Julie started to lightly knock on the door.

Is she in there? Ben asked from her side. Julie shrugged.

I dont know, she wont open the door, Julie sighed. Ben nodded and put a hand on Julies shoulder.

Let me try, Ben offered, Julie nodded and backed away from the door so Ben was in front of it. That was when he started banging loudly on the door. GWEN! He shouted, If you dont open the door Im coming in anyway!

Silence. He shrugged, and turned the knob. He pushed the door open. She wasnt in there.

Did you hear about old Max? A drunk voice slurred in Bellwoods local cavern. His slightly more sober buddy nodded.

Yea, heard he went crazy, claimin all sorts o stuff, His friend responded. This attracted the attention of another patron in the beer hall.

Max? As in Max Tennyson? The patron asked. The drunken guy nodded. What are you guys talkin about?

You havent heard? The sober voiced asked. The patron shook his head.

Last week, Max walked, well more like stumbled in ere claiming that his grandchildren were being held captive by some monster like thing.

Whatd you guys do about it? The patron inquired. The drunk and his friend shrugged.

What could e do? The drunk asked laughing a little, E just laughed.

Last weve seen of the old man was when he stormed out in a rage since no one would help him, The sober person added.

Really? The patron murmured.

Yea, an Morninsta has been freakin claimin hell rescue Gwendeelon, Maxs Grandoghter, The drunken voice stuttered out.

Do you guys know if this is true? The patron questioned fidgeting a bit. Both buddies laughed at how nervous the guy seemed.

There aint no monsters out in the woods, the sober voice reassured, the only thing dangerous out there are the wolves.

Where could she be? Ben asked as both he and Julie searched through the halls. Julie shrugged.

I dont know! But I hope she isnt in the West wing, Julie commented. Ben groaned as they looked.

We better hope she isnt, He said, they both reached towards a room. The doors to it were wide open.

Dang it! Julie cried as she started rushing towards the doors, I was hoping you guys wouldnt find that room! Ben looked worried.

Why?! Theres not something bad in it right?! Ben asked worriedly. Julie shook her head.

No, there isnt, Julie said quickly as they reached the doors and rushed in. That was where they found Gwen staring at some unknown painting.

Gwen! Ben cried. Gwen looked up and smiled.

Hey Ben, She said, What are you guys doing here?

Looking for you, Julie said as she approached her, Now could you put my painting back so we can all leave. Gwen looked up at her.

You painted these? Gwen asked. Julie nodded.

Yeah, I did, Julie replied rather quickly as she grabbed some paintings from the floor and stacked the neatly against the wall, Now can you please put it away? I dont really believe I paint too well, or draw well for the matter either.

Youre kidding me, right? Ben asked inspecting one of the bad drawings. It was a painting of a castle. It looked beautiful and made out of ivory and marble. This one looks awesome! Julie blushed and walked over to the painting.

That was what the castle used to look like, Julie remarked lightly fingering the lines of the walls. She sighed, Anyway, since youve been here, no point in telling you to keep out.

So we can come here anytime? Ben asked. Julie nodded still not looking away from the castle in the painting.

Yeah, if you cant find me, Im probably here painting, Julie remarked as she slowly looked away from the painting. She walked over toward Gwen. Do you mind if I have that back now? Gwen shook her head and handed the painting to Julie. Julie smiled and placed it with the other paintings, she grabbed the beige tarp and placed them over the paintings.

Come on, its getting late we should be getting to bed now, Julie yawned. As Ben and Gwen walked towards the door into the hallway, Julie closed the curtains to the giant windows and blew the candles. As Julie left she didnt seem to notice that the paintbrush she always used, was glowing a pale white color.

A/N:Ha-ha! I’m back! XD Missed me? Well, I’ve been around, reading around, attempting a badly written lemon (and that anonymous reviewer? Yeah, if you’re reading this, I don’t really care if you didn’t like it. It was a really bad attempt in the first place so you’re little flame, if it even WAS a flame, didn’t really bother me in the least).

Anyway, if you’ve had enough patience for my page to load, then you would have noticed I have a new story idea. The first chapter is down and written and I’m wondering if what you’re thoughts are about it. I’m planning on posting it soon.

Anyway, remember the universal author rule, Reviews = 3 love 3
