CHAPTER 4

– FLASHBACK –

So the Tennyson cousins are both single huh? Maybe we should start going out

She flashed Ben a smile almost causing him to melt in his seat. All Ben could do was stare at her, the word shocked was written all over his face.[not literally though]

Did I hear her right? She wants us to start going out?!!! No that cant be possible, dont get your hopes up not right now at least. Gwens just joking I know she is.

Ben? Ben?! I was just kidding

Dont tell me you took that seriously?

Of course I didnt!

Yes you did! You want to go out with me dont you? Admit it

So what if I do!?

A long pause followed those words, the words that had Ben and Gwen frozen in place. Gwen was the one who was able to choke out a decent sentence.

Ben struggled to find an escape. He was trapped, there was nothing more he could do but confess. Though can he possibly expect her to say yes??? He was her cousin after all. Why in the world would she want her cousin as a boyfriend? And not to mention the consequences if theyre parents found out…….

But why wouldnt she? I mean hed do anything for Gwen even if it costs him his own life. Hed even perform impossible tasks if that would make her happy. Hell just have to deal with the results later, right now all that mattered was his relationship with Gwen.

Im sorry Gwen.

For what you said earlier? Dont worry I get it now it was just an accident, you didnt actually mean it right?

Gwen giggled a bit but the trembling of her lips wasnt hard to miss.

Huh? I dont understand Ben

She looked worried, it was pretty obvious that she knew what he was talking about. She just didnt want the subject brought up.

Ben sat next to her being careful with his actions around her. He checked if his grandpa had diverted his attention from the road to them, but judging from the tune he was humming and that smile on his face he still hasnt.

He slowly placed his hands on hers, and took in some oxygen preparing himself for what he was about to tell her. Gwen could only stare at him, still motionless and confused with his cousins behavior towards her.

He looked intimately into her eyes, it took him a great deal of effort not to lose focus. And before he knew it the words permitted themselves to escape from his lips.

Gwen just hear me out Ive been wanting to say this for a long time now. Do you remember our last summer together?

Gwen simply nodded urging him to continue.

Thats when it started

What started?

Gwens voice was a bit shaken but Ben continued.

Thats when my feelings for you suddenly changed. I didnt want you to give your attention to anybody else but me, so I often teased you. Everyday I was able to smile because I knew that I would wake up seeing you, and by the end of summer I realized that I was.

You were what?

She wanted to hear him say it, Gwen wanted this as much as he did. And since he wasnt holding back anymore why should she?

She drew her face closer to his, so close that they could feel each others breath.

Ben couldnt take it anymore, instinctively he closed the remaining space that was keeping their lips apart.

He kissed her, and she kissed him back. Passion overwhelmed that kiss, Gwens soft lips and Bens cool breath. Ben parted with her for just a fragment of a second to say these 3 words I Love You.

Gwens hands slowly made their way to Bens neck, he rubbed her back gently neither of them wanted this moment to end. But a simple question forced them to rip apart.

Ben, Gwen are you guys doing okay?

Were fine grandpa

Gwen smiled at Ben as she uttered those words.

Trust us we are

Ben gave her a quick peck on the cheek before Max noticed anything else, and went back to his seat grabbing his PSP once again.

Gwen shifted her attention to the laptop that she just now remembered was in front of her.

Who ever thought that a 10 year old like Ben could figure out that he was already in love

Max gave out a sigh turning his attention back to the road.

This is going to be one long summer
