Chapter 3

Shopping
spree at the Mall

Recap: Whats
a sealing spell? Kevin asked.

A spell that
blocks all your power, and kills you, my father tried it on me, but
ended Kayla trailed off, never finishing her sentence.

Guess we got a
new adventure, huh? Ben smiled.

Guess so.

Huh?? Kayla
blinked, not paying attention. End of Recap

You know you dont
have to do this! I can stay with Sai-ha. Kayla followed Gwen like
a duckling. Gwen just laughed.

You are not
staying with an old man! Just be happy its summer here Kayla and
my parents shouldnt mind. much.

Then. let me
help! Oh and please call me Kiki! Kayla said, rushing
around, doing her best not to get lost. Gwen was taking Kayla to a
special shop in the mall, but to Kayla it was just giant stone
pillars and seas of earthen humans. It was different, really
different.

Ben and Kevin left to
other stores, much earlier. But they all had a time and place to
meet, which was in two hours at the food court.

Alright, Ill call
you Kiki, but you have to promise to never call me Gwendolyn or an
Energy Being, deal?

Whats a
Gwendolyn?

My full first
nameGwen gritted her teeth, look, the store! Gwen grabbed
Kaylas arm and pulled her to it. They entered a clothes store, one
that Gwen just happened to be the assistant manager of. The store did
have more than clothes in it, but they werent there for it.

What are we here
for?

Well, youre
staying for two months- probably longer- you need some Earth clothes!
– That and I want use my ten percent discount for once. Gwen took
a good look at Kaylas figure, mediums. Stay here! Gwen went
on a rampage through the clothes; she acted like a girl on mission.
She came back fifteen minutes later with shirts of blue, green,
purple, black, and white. Hold these; Im off for pants, skirts,
and shorts! There went Gwen, again.

Kayla did as told, and
in another fifteen minutes Gwen comes back, with more clothes. Then
Gwen set the clothes on a chair that Kayla didnt notice.

Ill turn these
into outfits, and Ill buy what looks best! Gwen told her in a
sing-song voice. Gwen handed her the first outfit. Kayla found the
dressing rooms with little problems; her biggest problem was that she
didnt know how to put the clothes on.

How come you’ve
never told us about a sister planet? Ben continued to question
Kevin.

You never asked
about, and its not something that just pops into a subject.
Kevin replied.

Then what about the
fact that therere other humans, huh? Ben asked his voice louder
this time.

How bout I play
your dumb question and Answer game, when therere less people
around!?

Fine, bet youd
play if I were Gwen. Ben huffed. Kevin rolled his eyes.

You know, at times
you still act like youre ten. Kevin told him.

I do not!

Right, of course
not. Kevin gave a small chuckle.

Gwen, how many more
do I have to try on? Kayla wined, she herd some people in the
store say shopping is fun lairs. Kayla hated this it
was hard to figure how to put things on then take them off and Gwen
kept getting more and more clothes!

Just two, I swear!
Gwen promised, Kayla believed her- not like she had a reason not to.

The first outfit of the
last two looked alright, but Gwen didnt buy it. The outfit was
pale lavender tank top and dark denim Capris. The second outfit
was much better; it was a black short sleeve shirt- with a pale blue
heart in the center- and a blue, black, and white plaid skirt that
came with a black and silver belt.

Thats perfect for
you! Gwen complemented her. Ill get the accessories for it!
Gwen sounded as if she where on a shopping high. In three minutes she
came back with black knee high socks and matching fingerless gloves-
they had already gotten four pairs of shoes, and one pair looked
perfect with the outfit- so Gwen bought this one too, making Kayla
feel horrible.

Some day Ill make
this up to you! Kayla promised to Gwen.

Gwen smiled, you
dont have to. I save a lot of money, unlike Ben, he keeps
spending his money. Gwen laughed at a funny memory, but Kayla
didnt ask- not wanting to pry and all. Gwen looked at her watch,
were going too late! Come on, Kayla, lets go. Gwen sighed,
as she picked up some of the bags.

Kayla picked up the
rest the asked, do I leave like this?

Yeah, I paid.
Gwen replied her.

What about my
dress? Kayla asked her.

In one of the bags
Kayla nodded in response.

When are the girls
going to get here? Kevin tapped the table in impatience.

You know how Gwen is
with shopping. She loves to take her sweet time. Ben laughed. He
was annoyed also, but was much more accustomed too it. I wonder
how Kayla likes shopping, she is a princess. He pondered
for a moment, before assuming she would. Girl plus royalty equals
shopping freak AKA Gwen.

You know we were
late by twenty minutes, but this is just criminal! Kevin whined
even more. Theyve been waiting fifteen minutes.

You mean like you?
Ben laughed more.

That was a long time
ago! Kevin yelled at him, surprisingly not attracting any attion.

What was? Kayla
asked, surprising them both.

Most likely
something Kevin did. Gwen answered. Well, do you boys like what
shes wearing or not? Gwen asked setting the bags in an extra
chair, Kayla repeated her actions, but setting the bags on the floor.

Ben answered with a
quick, yes that made him blush.

It looks alright.
Kevin told them, not really caring.

Gwen gave a victorious
smile, good! Lets get something to eat. Her smile softened a
bit.

What do you want?
Kevin asked her. Gwen shrugged.

I dont know,
lets see what they have. Gwen grabbed Kevins hand and pulled
him up to the counter. This left Ben alone with a very confused
Kayla.

What about you?
Ben asked.

I wouldnt know. I
dont know how to read Earths language, and what most
things are even called here. I didnt know what a Gwendolyn was
until Gwen told me. Kayla lowered her head in shame. She
felt really stupid.

Ben felt bad; he didnt
know how to help. He bet Gwen could though. Have you told Gwen?
Kayla shook her head no. He sighed, Tell her tonight, when
youre at her house, okay? Kayla nodded, Ben smiled. Ill
order something for you okay, and soon you can order for yourself,
alright?

Alright, Kayla
smiled back at him. Ben got up told to stay and not to talk to anyone
that she didnt, promising hed be back soon. Kayla smiled more,
for some reason she was thinking about Ben. His presence filled the
void in her that used to belong to her brother- but it felt
different. She didnt know how, or why, but it just happened to
her. Ben didnt look; like Zane, or sound like him.

How? Kayla
whispered to herself. She shook her head, I dont want to think
about it any more. She said to herself, happy no one heard her.

It didnt take long
for Gwen and Kevin to come back, Hope you werent lonely with
out us. Gwen smiled, Kayla shook her head no. Good, where is
Ben? Kayla pointed to a counter two stands away from where they
came from. Ben was second in line, the first person was being handed
their food.

Hell be here
soon, get over it. He told Kayla when he noticed she was starring.
Gwen slapped his arm, he pretended it hurt.

Kevin started to eat
one of his french fries, unlike Gwen, who decided to wait for Ben.
Ben came to the table rather quickly, but to Kayla it seemed longer
than it really was. She watched him sit next to her, handing her food
to her. Kayla had no idea what it was, but didnt question it. She
trusted Ben and Gwen, not so much Kevin. To the others she had a
ten piece Chicken McNugget meal with a Coke. Ben Had a BigMac meal-
large fries, and a Coke. Kevin had one and a half bacon cheese
burger, with an empty French fry container, and a half drunken Pepsi.
Last but not least, Gwen, Chicken salad with a baked potato and Mt.
Dew.

Do you like it?
Ben looked at her, he had opened a sweetnsour sauce for her.

When Kayla tried it her
face lit up, Yes, I love it! She smiled, and then ate another
one.

Im glad I picked
well. He said and joined the rest in eating.
